World's first projection screen with NXT SoundVu loudspeaker
10 Jul 2006
NXT plc is pleased to confirm the launch of the ASS-60AK Speaker Screen from Authentic Ltd, the world’s first front projection screen using NXT’s SoundVu technology to produce sound directly from the screen itself. Inspired by movie lovers’ need for high resolution projectors, screens and audio systems to create higher quality home cinemas, the Speaker Screen is the ultimate, high quality projection screen and brings to life a larger, more dynamic audio-visual experience.
The ASS-60AK is constructed from Teonex, a woven fabric specially developed by Teijin Fibers Ltd, which is able to produce high frequencies that most other fabrics would absorb. NXT’s SoundVu technology enables the projection screen to become a loudspeaker by ‘exciting’ the surface. Vibrations are undetectable to the naked eye so image quality is preserved while producing high quality sound.
The screen features an audio input jack that connects the screen to an audio source, such as a laptop, making presentations and teleconferences easy to deliver and conduct. The Speaker Screen can be rolled up for maximum portability and there is a specially designed carrying case as an optional accessory.
The Speaker Screen is ideal for delivering the vocal, or centre channel, of a surround sound system, as is the case in commercial movie theatres where permanently installed, perforated projection screens are located in front of loudspeakers. Since the Speaker Screen can be hidden away or retracted to save valuable space, it is the ideal solution for those who want the same synchronised performance of a commercial cinema on a smaller scale, such as small theatres, businesses and home theatre enthusiasts.
The ASS-60AK Speaker Screen is available in Japan from Kojima Co., Ltd on 21 July, but Kojima Business Club Members can reserve the screen now. It is priced around ¥59,800.
