Description

Launched in July 2005, Toshiba’s V501T handset for the Vodafone K.K. network in Japan became the second NXT-based mobile phone, following the earlier introduction of NEC’s N506iS.

The V501T incorporates NXT’s SoundVu technology whereby the display screen also functions as the loudspeaker enhancing the phone’s audio-visual performance.  During voice calls the handset’s larger audio sweet spot proves ‘easier on the ear’ as users don’t need to directly align the loudspeaker to the ear canal.  For multimedia applications, particularly gaming and playback of movies, NXT SoundVu functionality delivers a truly immersive audio-visual experience.

The stylish clamshell-design of the V501T features interchangeable ‘costume’ covers, allowing users to change the look and feel of their phone to coordinate with their lifestyle in an instant by attaching tightly fitting silicon covers.

In its product marketing, Vodafone has positioned the handset as ideal for high-noise environments, allowing users to continue their voice call, despite high levels of ambient noise.  Available in white, silver or blue, the V501T also incorporates a 1.3 mega pixel camera, SD memory card slot, Sha-Mail and dual display screens.
